New Plan: Department of Planning Releases 7-Year "Maryland Heritage Areas Program Strategic Plan"

Approved on May 15, 2025 by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, the Maryland Department of Planning has adopted its latest strategic plan, "Maryland Heritage Areas Program Strategic Plan: A Statewide Vision for Success July 2025 – June 2032." The strategic plan, commissioned by the Authority, seeks to provide a vision for the statewide program while each Heritage Area still retains their individual strategic plans and local priorities as determined by each entities board of directors. Heritage Area directors Meagan Baco (Prince George's), Brigette Carty (Lower Susquehanna), and Lucille Walker (Southern Maryland) served on the plan's coordinating committee and nearly 175 hours were spent gathering and synthesizing feedback from over 600 constituents.
